Sagging Neck Treatments
Neck treatments is often overlooked in a skincare regimen but the neck is one of the most prominent body parts to show signs of aging. The skin in the neck is thinner than facial skin as it has a different collagen content and fewer oil glands. It’s also one of the most sun-exposed areas of the body and while some people might religiously apply sunscreen to their faces as part of their daily skin care regimen, they often overlook their neck. Gravity and muscle activity plays a role, and over time skin becomes lax, lines and wrinkles start to develop, resulting in an unsightly “turkey neck”.
Traditionally, the only correction for a sagging neck was a surgical procedure, but that went hand-in-hand with hospitalization, expense and extended downtime for recovery. Recently, some newer non-surgical treatments have become available to aesthetically improve the neck and décolleté areas without surgery.
The Melrose Aesthetic Centre offers a range of neck treatments for an aging neck – Nano Fat Transfer, Micro Laser Peels and Threading. These non-surgical solutions also address some of the other changes that surgical options cannot, such as thinning and wrinkled skin, brown pigmentation discolouration, and areas of Rosacea, or red blotchiness. When utilizing non-invasive options to treat the aging neck, a combination of treatments will provide the most optimal results.
Nano Fat Transfer
Nano Fat Transfer is the process whereby fat can be harvested from one part of the body and then placed in another part of the body as a fat graft. The reason that is done is to replace volume in the graft area so as to restore contour or shape to the area. This is of particular value in the face as well as in the breasts and buttocks.
Fat grafting has an additional value in that it enables rejuvenation of the overlying skin. The reason that happens is because the grafted fat is rich in mesenchymal stem cells. Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AdMSC) are critical in tissue regeneration and repair. Read More

Micro Laser Peels
A Micro Laser Peel is a gentle, laser assisted skin peel, which precisely removes the skin’s outermost layer to a predetermined depth. It is the perfect step between Microdermabrasion and deeper Chemical or Laser Peels for treating pigmentation, sun damage and melasma. Typically two to four treatments are required spaced at intervals over eight weeks, depending on the extent of treatment required. Healing will take 3-4 days, as the damaged skin layers slough off, allowing fresh new skin cells to grow. Read More
An Erbium Yag laser emits short pulses of high-energy light, which gets absorbed by the water and chromophores in the skin. The light becomes heat, and that heat removes thin layers of your skin’s surface, which will be replaced by younger, healthier and stronger skin growth. The Sciton Laser™ has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimised to your skin condition. Pigmented lesions will greatly improve or completely disappear and the treatment also softens and diminishes wrinkles. Read More
The treatment involves the injection of Botox® (or a similar neuromodulator such as Disport®) into specific muscles with a very fine needle, which relaxes the contraction response of the muscles by blocking certain nerve impulses temporarily. Since the muscles cannot contract, the wrinkles associated with that soften, and become less visible. Results are usually seen in about 4 days with maximum effects around 14 days, and will last up to 3-6 months. Repeat treatment will be required to maintain the effect, but with subsequent treatments, wrinkles permanently become less severe, it has been found. Read More
