When Do We Recommend Micro Laser Peels?

Skin conditions such as wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses, or pigment problems have been very successfully treated with a Micro Laser Peels. This “weekend” skin peel treats skin conditions associated with aging and an active lifestyle. It is great for those who want to see improvements in just a few days and require little recovery time, discomfort or post-treatment care.

How Do Micro Laser Peels Work?

A Micro Laser Peel is a minimal to full epidermal (top skin layer) peel (20-50 microns), using a specialized laser device. Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between Microdermabrasion and deeper peels.

What Is The Typical Course Of Treatment?

The Micro Laser Peel procedure starts with the application of a topical anesthetic such as Ela-max, Emla, or Betacaine Plus, which is applied one hour before the procedure. Your specialist will discuss the options with you. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. SCITON PROFILE™ ‘s laser beam will be delivered through a computer-controlled device that automatically scans the area of your skin being treated. You may hear a snapping or popping noise as the laser gently removes the outer skin cells. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the size of the area to be treated and the depth of your peel.

One procedure could be sufficient for at least 6 to 12 months, but additional procedures can be performed as required. A package of three to four treatments may be best for you. Your specialist will determine what is necessary.

What Can You / Can’t You Expect From The Treatment?

Most people describe the Micro Laser Peel post-procedure feeling as bad sunburn – this feeling will subside in a few days. Cold compresses will also help to soothe the discomfort. The healing process varies from patient to patient, but will generally take from two to four days. The procedure can be performed on Thursday or Friday and you can return to work the following Monday, hence the name “weekend peel”. You will have minor sloughing and itchiness the following day. By day two, redness will begin to fade and by day three, any redness can be easily covered with make-up.

Because your skin will heal over a period of several weeks, you may not see the results until then. As your skin heals and new collagen regenerates and fills in the lines and wrinkles, you will see better results, and even better results become apparent after a few months.

Look forward to smoother, healthier skin, which is more vibrant. You will notice a significant and immediate change in skin texture and tightness when compared to treatment with Microdermabrasion.

What Are The Unwanted Effects / Risks Of The Treatment?

Almost none – follow the prescribed after-care instructions and regimen and so minimise the risk of infection.
