When Do We Advise Against It?

At the time of consultation, our doctor will assess the patient both with respect to the prior medical history and the patient’s current state of health. Based on a clinical assessment the doctor will make a recommendation for treatment. Any patient whose assessment poses risk factors will be advised against the treatment and alternate solutions sought.

To name but a few, the treatment cannot be performed on pregnant women, lactating mothers, those taking medications for epilepsy or blood thinners, those suffering from any heart conditions. Other clinical conditions are assessed individually and are discussed in the consultation.

How Does It Work?

Following your Consultation, you can start your selected program immediately. The infusion will be administered and monitored by our training Registered Nurse and our doctor will be available at all times.

IV Therapy is considered to be a minimally invasive treatment and typically takes 30 minutes to an hour to administer. The Registered Nurse will put up your drip with your prescribed supplement by inserting a small needle and a drip bag. You can then sit or lie back and relax while your cocktail runs.

At The Melrose Aesthetic Centre, we offer IV Nutrient Therapy as once off treatments however we offer recommended packages which can be done as either 3 or 6-month packages.

For those people who are seeking that glow of your skin or skin brightening, It is important to know that are no guarantees that skin lightening can be achieved and that when undertaking treatment with Glutathione, it is imperative to continue your suggestion treatment regime as this highly affects your progress.

How often do you need to do drips?

Each IV Infusion has different recommended treatment plans and this also differs from person to person. The Myers Cocktail is typically administered on a monthly basis whereas the Glutathione IV is suggested to have administered on a more regular basis which will be discussed with you in consultation.

What Are The Unwanted Effects / Risks Of The Treatment?

As with any treatment, there is always a possibility of having an adverse effect on treatment and this is dependent on a number of factors which differ from person to person.

While there are minimal cases of side effects from IV Nutrient Therapy it is important to familiarise yourself with the possible side effects and to always ensure you disclose your full medical history to your Specialist.

The known side effects include dizziness, nausea, muscle cramping, stomach cramps, hypertension, hypoglycemia, nd allergy or sensitivity to one or more of the components.
